Umar Food Plaza

Umar Food Plaza is located in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, specifically near the Matadoor Stand. Being near the stand means we get a lot of commuters and drivers coming in for a quick bite or a tea. Our address is 190008, and we have been here through all sorts of weather, good and bad. It’s a straightforward food plaza, nothing too complicated or fancy. We serve what people like to eat when they are in a hurry or just finished a long trip. The kitchen is always on the go, and the smell of cooking hangs around the Matadoor stand all day. We have a few tables where people can sit, but many just grab something and head to their next stop. The winters here get very cold, so we try to keep the place warm for anyone walking in from the snow. It’s a tough business sometimes, keeping everything fresh and moving, but we managed to make a name for ourselves in this neighborhood over the years. We don’t use any fancy talk or marketing, just honest food and a place to sit down for a minute. The staff is mostly local guys who know everyone in Jawahar Nagar. We just show up, cook, and go home once the last bus has left the stand. Sometimes we close late if the buses are delayed, but that's just part of the job. It's a busy spot but we like the energy of the people coming and going.
