Shaheen Foods & Spices

We are located inside the Town Square Mall in Jawahar Nagar. It is a busy spot because A. S. College is right across the street, and there are always students around. You will also see people heading toward the police station in Rajbaghsrinaga nearby. Our shop, Shaheen Foods & Spices, is on one of the main floors. It isn't the biggest unit in the mall, but we make the most of the space we have. A lot of our time goes into arranging the jars and packets on the shelves so things look decent. Since we are in Srinagar, the winters get very cold, and we keep a small heater running behind the counter. The mall gets crowded on the weekends, but during the week, it is mostly regulars from the neighborhood. We don't have a marketing team or anyone doing fancy advertising for us. It is just us and a couple of helpers who know where everything is stored. Sometimes we have to stay late to count the inventory or mop the floors after a long day of customers. Being in a mall feels a bit different than a street shop, but we still keep things very simple and honest. We talk to the other shop owners and share tea when the mall is quiet. We aren't trying to build a huge brand; we just enjoy selling our spices to people who stop by while they’re out shopping.
