Dhuan Coffee & Grill

You’ll find us inside the City Star Guest House building, right in the middle of Saraf Market on Hari Singh High Street. Srinagar can get quite chilly, so we try to keep the grill going to warm the place up. We are right opposite the Al-khaleel and G.N. jewellers, which is a very busy stretch of the street. People are always walking past, looking at the gold in the windows. Our place is small and smells like roasted meat and ground coffee most of the day. We get a lot of people who work in the market coming in for a quick cup of coffee to beat the cold. The guest house guests often wander down for a bite too. It’s not a big fancy cafe with leather sofas. We have basic wooden stools and tables that have seen a lot of use. The windows often get foggy from the steam in the kitchen. We don't have a huge team, just a couple of us handling the grill and the coffee machine. It’s a bit cramped when the lunch rush starts, but everyone seems to find a corner. We don't do much advertising; people just find us because of the smell of the food drifting onto the street. It’s just a simple, honest little grill where we work hard and keep the coffee hot for everyone. We stay busy until the market shutters come down.
