I’ve been running things here at B 7/1 Safdarjung Enclave for a long time now. It’s a quiet corner, though the traffic on the main road has definitely picked up over the years. My office isn't one of those modern glass places you see in the magazines. It's just a regular room with a lot of wooden shelves and stacks of files that never seem to get any smaller. I spend most of my day sitting at the main desk, dealing with various bits of paperwork and talking to people who come in for advice. Some days the phone won't stop ringing and other days it’s so quiet you can hear the birds outside. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that. If I’m busy, people just wait a bit or come back later. I’ve known some of the families around Safdarjung for decades. They know where to find me when they need help with their documents. The air conditioner is a bit loud and sometimes it leaks, but it keeps the room cool enough in the summer. I don't really bother with advertising or fancy business cards. People around here just know S C Maheshwari is the place to go. It’s steady work and it keeps me busy. I like the routine of coming in every morning and seeing what needs to be sorted out. It’s not a big corporate operation, just a local spot where things get done.
