Olaa Beej Bhandar

Down at K.S. Market in Sarva Priya Vihar, you’ll find us at Olaa Beej Bhandar. We are in Fns House, number 63. Being near IIT means we see a lot of different people, but mostly it’s just folks looking for good seeds for their gardens or farms. The shop is filled with the smell of earth and dried seeds. That is a lot better than the fumes from the city traffic outside. We’ve got sacks of grain and packets of seeds stacked up against the walls. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped. That usually happens when more than two people come in at once. It’s a simple life, following the seasons of planting and harvesting. When the monsoon is about to hit, the place gets incredibly busy with people rushing to get their supplies. We don’t use any high-tech systems here. Most of our notes are written in a big ledger that sits on the counter. The staff knows their stuff because they’ve been handling seeds for years, not because they went to some fancy school for it. We talk to the customers about the soil and the rain, and usually, they stay for a bit of a chat or some gossip too. It’s a local market shop through and through. We aren’t looking to expand into some giant warehouse. We like it just fine right here in the middle of the market where we know everyone.
