Cafe Coffee Day

Our place is at 7 D, over in Sector 7 of Dwarka. If you live around this part of N. Delhi, you probably know the area pretty well. This Cafe Coffee Day is not one of those massive, sleek spots you see in movies. It is a local hangout where the floor has a few scuffs and the tables are well-used. We spend our days making coffee and heating up snacks for whoever walks in. It gets loud when the college kids come in after their classes, but we like the energy. The staff here are just regular folks. Some of us are studying, and others are just working to pay the bills. We do not have a corporate manual for how to smile at people. We just do it because we know the regulars by name and what they like to drink. The smell of ground beans is always in the air here. Sometimes the milk steamer makes a weird high-pitched noise, but it still works fine. We do not put on airs. It is just a spot to sit down for a bit and relax. The windows get a little foggy when it rains outside. We keep the place clean, but it is not meant to be a museum. It is a working cafe. We have our favorite chairs and the one table that always wobbles a little. People bring their laptops or just sit and talk. We stay out of the way.
