Amit Nursery

Our nursery is situated right by the Andheria More red light on Vasant Kunj Road. It is a very dusty spot because of all the traffic that stops right in front of us. We spend most of our day outside with the plants, which is hard work when the sun is out. Every morning starts with watering everything, from the small saplings to the bigger trees in cement pots. We have a lot of different kinds of soil and fertilizers piled up near the back. People driving past often stop when the light is red and ask about the prices of the flowers. We do a lot of heavy lifting, moving big terracotta pots and bags of manure around. My clothes are usually stained with mud by noon. It is not a clean job, but we like being around the greenery even if the road noise is constant. We don't have a fancy office or a website. We just sit on plastic chairs under the shade of a large tree when we have a break. Sometimes the plants don't do well because of the heat, and we have to figure out how to save them. It is just a simple life of looking after plants and selling them to people who want a bit of nature in their homes. We take things one day at a time here.
