Uno Asian Handicrafts

We are located in the basement at D-139 in Lajpat Nagar-I. It stays a bit cooler down here during the summer, which is nice. Since we deal with handicrafts, there is stuff everywhere. You’ll see piles of textiles, wood carvings, and brass items depending on what came in that week. It’s not a fancy boutique by any means. It’s more of a place where we check the quality of things and pack them up for shipping. Sometimes it feels a little cramped with all the boxes, but we know where everything is. We spend a lot of our time talking to the artisans and making sure the pieces they send us are what we talked about. It's a lot of manual work, opening crates and re-packing them so nothing breaks. The lighting isn't the best, but we have some extra lamps for when we need to look closely at the details. People sometimes walk right past the entrance because it’s just a simple door leading down. We’ve been in this basement for years now and it suits us just fine. It’s close to the main roads which helps when the trucks come to pick up the freight. We aren't doing anything fancy, just moving handmade goods from one place to another and making sure the paperwork is in order. It keeps us busy and the day goes by fast when there is a lot of packing to do.
