Um Mool Chand India Emporium

We have our shop, Um Mool Chand India Emporium, at G-9 in the South Extension Part-I Market. South Ex is a well-known place for shopping, but our spot is a bit more traditional than some of the newer stores. We carry a variety of Indian goods, and the shelves are usually packed from floor to ceiling. It is a bit of a maze inside, but that’s part of the charm, I think. We don’t have a corporate management team or a big marketing budget. It’s just us and a few helpers making sure the items are displayed and the customers find what they need. The market can get incredibly busy on the weekends, so we have to be ready for the rush. During the week, it’s a bit slower, which gives us time to reorganize and check our stock. We’ve been in Part-I for a long time, so we’ve seen shops come and go while we’ve stayed right here at G-9. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. If someone likes something, they buy it. We just try to keep a good variety of things that people actually want to take home. The lighting inside is a bit soft, and it smells like fabric and maybe a bit of incense sometimes. It’s a real place, run by real people who care about what they are selling. We’re just happy to be part of the South Extension community and serve anyone who walks through our door.
