The Coffee Bond

If you head into Hauz Khas Village, you’ll find us tucked away. The Coffee Bond is our little spot in the middle of all those narrow lanes and old buildings. It’s a strange place, the village. One minute it’s very quiet and the next it’s full of people looking for the lake or the designer shops. We are in one of the older parts of the village. The space we have is quite small, so it feels a bit cramped when more than five or six people are inside at once. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights to show the way. Most people find us by word of mouth or just by stumbling across the door while exploring the village alleys. The walls are a bit rough and we haven’t bothered to paint them in a while. We think it fits the look of the area anyway. It’s mostly students or people with their books who come in to spend time. They sit in the corner and stay for a bit. We don’t mind as long as there is space for others to get to the counter. Delivering stuff here is a nightmare because the roads are so thin, so we end up carrying bags of beans through the streets ourselves. It’s just how things work in Hauz Khas. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who take turns behind the counter. It’s a simple life and the coffee is just coffee in the end.
