Thadi Cafe

Hauz Khas Village is a strange place if you think about it. You have these old ruins and then these narrow lanes filled with all sorts of shops and cafes. Thadi Cafe is at number 12, tucked away like most things are here. You have to walk through the village, maybe dodge a few cows or a motorbike, to find us. We like it that way. It’s not a polished place with matching furniture and perfect lighting. We’ve got some old chairs and the walls have been painted and repainted over the years. When the sun goes down, the vibe changes and the village gets loud, but we just keep doing what we’ve always done. The staff is mostly young guys who like the energy here. We spend a lot of time on the terrace, especially when the weather isn't too bad. You can see the trees and hear the birds if you’re lucky. It’s a lot of stairs to climb, and we’re the ones carrying everything up and down all day. We don’t have a big plan for the future or some grand vision. We just want to make sure the tea is hot and the seats are comfortable enough for someone to stay for an hour or two. It’s a simple life in a complicated neighborhood, and we’re happy to be a small part of the village. It gets busy on weekends, but we just take it as it comes.
