About Spice Market – Food & Beverages in South Delhi
If you find yourself in Saket, you have probably walked past us without thinking much about it. Spice Market is just a small place filled with heavy sacks and the kind of smell that gets into your clothes and stays there for hours. We spend a lot of time just scooping things into paper bags and weighing them out for neighbors. It gets loud when the delivery trucks come through Saket, and we have to move everything out of the way. There is no air conditioning here, so in the summer it gets pretty warm, and the scent of the chilies gets even stronger. We don't spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty for photos. The floor is concrete and there are always little piles of dust near the corners. People come in asking for something specific for their dinner, and we usually know exactly where it is hidden in the back. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, honestly. Boxes are stacked up to the ceiling because we run out of shelf space. It is just a regular shop where work happens from early morning until the sun goes down. Most of our day is just talking to people who live nearby and making sure the jars are full. It is simple work, but it keeps us busy enough throughout the week. The Saket location is easy to find if you are around the main market area.
