Silken Wings

Silken Wings is located at J-100 in Kalkaji. It’s a neighborhood place, really. We’ve been in this part of South Delhi for a good amount of time and we’ve seen the area change quite a bit. Our work involves a lot of fabric and design, and the shop is usually filled with different materials. It can get a bit messy with scraps of cloth and thread everywhere, but that’s just how we work. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a workshop feel where things are actually being made. People from around Kalkaji drop by to see what we’re working on or to pick up something they had ordered. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a job is going to take a week, we tell them it’ll take a week. We don't like overpromising. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, so we usually have the blinds down then. It's a small team here, and we all know each other's habits. We just enjoy the process of creating things and seeing people happy with what they get. It’s not a fancy boutique; it’s just our little space at J-100 where we spend our days. We're part of the local community here, and that's what matters most to us at the end of the day. We are just simple people working with silk.
