Vastra Kala

Vastra Kala is tucked away at 1193/13 in Govind Puri. We are right in the Kalkaji area of New Delhi 110019. This neighborhood is famous for being crowded and full of life. Our space is filled with the tools of our trade. You’ll find bits of cloth and thread in the corners if you look closely. It’s a bit of a maze to get here if you aren't used to the lanes of Govind Puri. The buildings are all built right up against each other. We spend our days working with our hands and keeping track of all the different pieces we have in stock. The light coming through the front door is usually the best light we get. It’s a practical workspace, not a showroom. We have old shelves that hold everything we need. Most of us have been working in Kalkaji for a long time. We know the other shop owners on the block. We often share a cup of tea on the sidewalk when things quiet down. The noise of the city is always there in the background, like a constant hum. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of sturdy fans that we've had for years. It’s a place where we focus on the work and don't worry about the rest. We just try to get through the day's tasks before the sun goes down. It’s home to us.
