Sawhney Export

Our place is in Shaheen Bagh, over in the Okhla area of New Delhi. The address is A125/3 in the Abul Fazal Enclave-2. It’s a very crowded part of the city, so getting here can be a bit of a challenge if you aren't used to the narrow lanes. We do export work from this small office. There are always stacks of samples and fabric swatches lying around. It’s a bit messy but we know where everything is. The neighborhood is full of energy and there is always something going on outside the window. We’ve been here for several years now. It’s a family-run kind of thing, mostly. We handle the orders and talk to the workshops. Sometimes we have to stay late to talk to people in different time zones. We don’t have a big fancy sign outside, just the building number. Most of our business comes from people we have known for a long time. We don't really do much on the internet or social media. We just focus on getting the shipments out on time. The tea stall downstairs is where we usually take our breaks. It’s a real Delhi experience working here. We just keep doing what we do and try to keep up with the demands of the export market. It’s hard work but it keeps us going. We don’t need anything too fancy, just some good light to work by and enough space for the boxes.
