Our office is at number 84 in Adhchini, right on Shri Aurobindo Marg. It’s a busy place to be because that road connects so many parts of the city. Even though the name is Sagar Mines, you won’t find any actual mining happening here in Delhi. This is where we handle all the management and the paperwork side of the business. It’s a fairly old building, and the stairs are a bit narrow. Inside, we’ve got a few rooms filled with filing cabinets and some old maps of the sites we manage. The traffic outside is constant, so there’s always a bit of a hum in the background. We spend most of the day on the phone talking to people at the different sites or dealing with the various departments. It’s a lot of checking documents and making sure everything is where it should be. We have a small balcony where we sometimes go to get some air, though it’s mostly just looking at the cars on Aurobindo Marg. The furniture is mismatched—some chairs are newer than others—but it gets the job done. We’ve been based in Adhchini for a long time because it’s a central enough spot for everyone to get to. It’s a plain, hardworking office without any of the fancy glass and chrome you see in the newer parts of town, and we prefer it that way.
