R. V. Handicrafts

Up on the second floor of N-75 in Greater Kailash Part-I, you’ll find R. V. Handicrafts. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren't looking for it, but we like it that way. It gives us the space to work on the crafts without too many interruptions. We have a lot of tools and raw materials spread out across the rooms. Most of what we do involves manual labor and a lot of patience. We don't use big automated machines. It’s more about using your hands and paying attention to the details. The stuff we make isn't perfect, because people aren't perfect. That’s what makes them special, we think. We’ve been in GK Part-I for years. The neighborhood has changed a lot, but our little workshop stays pretty much the same. It’s dusty and smells like wood and metal most days. We don't have a showroom with bright lights. It’s just a place where things are made. Sometimes we have tea and talk about the next project. We don't have a big social media presence. We just rely on the work to speak for itself. If someone likes what we do, they usually come back. It’s a quiet life, mostly focused on the next item on the bench. We handle the packing and shipping ourselves too, right here from the second floor. It's just a few of us here.
