Mohan'S Handicrafts

The workshop is located in Pul Prahlad Pur, right off M.B. Road. It is a bit of a dusty area with all the heavy traffic passing by, but inside C-197/1, things are a lot quieter. We have different sections for different types of work. One corner is usually filled with wood shavings, and another has all the paints and finishes lined up. We don't use big automated machines for everything; it is mostly hand tools and people sitting on wooden stools working on the small details. Sometimes it takes days just to finish one single piece, but that is how it works here. Mohan started this a long time ago, and some of the workers have been here since the beginning. We make things that look good in houses, mostly traditional stuff that people like. There is always a smell of sawdust and varnish in the air. We don't have a fancy showroom with glass cases. Everything is just kept on wooden shelves until someone buys it or it gets shipped out. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we often move closer to the door to see the fine work. It gets really hot in the summer because the roof is low, but we have a few old fans that keep the air moving. We aren't trying to be some big global brand; we just like making things that people appreciate. Most days we are just busy sanding, carving, or packing boxes for the local shops.
