M. K. Handicrafts

M. K. Handicrafts is situated at Kh. No. 27, Plot No. 48, along Shivalaya Road. We are based in Village Chhattarpur, which is a much quieter place than the main industrial parts of the city. We make various items by hand here. You will not find many big, noisy machines in our shop, just some basic hand tools and people sitting and working carefully. There is always a lot of wood, clay, or fabric sitting around depending on what specific project we are tackling that week. The workshop is an open space where we can spread our materials out on the floor or on long wooden tables. Out on Shivalaya Road, you can hear the birds and the occasional sound of a tractor passing by. It is a very different pace of life compared to the big factories. We do not have a glossy catalog to show people who visit. If you come by the plot, you can just see whatever we happen to be finishing that day. Some of the pieces take a very long time to complete, especially if the weather is too damp for the materials to dry properly. We have a few local cats that hang around the workshop and keep us company while we work. It is a relaxed place, but we still work hard to get everything done. People come to us for things that look handmade.
