Lakme Absolute Salon

Being on the second floor at A-6 on Ring Road means we hear the traffic all day. South Extension 1 is a noisy part of Delhi, especially being near Haldiram. People use that as a landmark to find us. We’re up the stairs, away from the main sidewalk. The salon is busy most of the time because of the location. We spend our hours cutting hair and doing makeup. The floor stays covered in bits of hair until we sweep at night. It’s a lot of standing around and moving from chair to chair. We have the usual salon stuff everywhere. Bottles of products, brushes, and blow dryers lying around. Sometimes the AC makes a weird noise, but it keeps the place cool. We see all kinds of people here. Some are in a hurry, others want to stay for hours. We just do the work. It’s not always pretty behind the scenes with the laundry and the cleaning, but the front looks okay. We’ve been here for a while and the staff knows the routine. It’s just a job in a busy part of town. We get a lot of people stopping by after eating nearby. It’s a constant flow of faces. We just try to keep up with the schedule and keep the mirrors clean.
