Jolly Hair Saloon

Jolly Hair Saloon is on 40 Feet Road in the Badarpur area of Delhi. If you know the area, we are quite near Neeraj Bhojnalya. You can often smell the food cooking from over there when the wind blows the right way. 40 Feet Road is always packed with people and vehicles. It is one of those places in Delhi that never seems to sleep. The shop is a narrow space but we make it work. We have mirrors lining the walls to make it look a bit bigger. We get all kinds of people here because of the location. Some are laborers looking for a cheap shave and others are office workers from the city. The noise from the traffic is constant. You hear horns and engines all day long. We have a small radio that we play to drown out the street noise a bit. The chairs are old but sturdy. We have a lot of regular customers who come in every two weeks like clockwork. They don't even look in the mirror until we are finished. We spend a lot of time sweeping up hair and cleaning the combs. It is a tough job standing all day in the Delhi heat, but we are used to it. We keep a jug of cold water in the corner for anyone who is thirsty. It is a basic shop for a basic haircut and that is why people come here.
