Jamawar Exports

Jamawar Exports is located in the basement of A-197 in Lajpat Nagar-I. Working in a basement means we do not see much of the sun during the day, but it stays cool when the Delhi heat gets bad outside. We have stacks of boxes piled up nearly to the ceiling. Most of them are filled with textiles ready to be shipped out to other places. The space is a bit tight, so you have to be careful not to trip over the packing tape or the rolls of bubble wrap on the floor. We spend a lot of time on the phone with shipping agents and checking tracking numbers on the computer. It can be stressful when a package gets stuck at customs, but that is just part of the export business. There is a small desk near the entrance where we keep the ledger. It is always a bit dusty because of the fabric fibers floating around. We do not really have a walk-in shop, but people sometimes drop by to see the samples we have. We offer them a seat on one of the crates if the chairs are occupied. Our team is small, just a few of us who have worked together for many years. We know the rhythm of the place. Monday is for packing and Tuesday is for sorting. It is not a glamorous office with a view, but it is where we do our work and earn our keep. We just focus on getting the boxes out the door.
