J D Salon

Located at B-35 in Lajpat Nagar 4, our shop is part of the Amar Colony neighborhood. We are quite close to the Shiv Shakti Mandir, so we hear the temple bells sometimes. J D Salon is a small place. We don't have a lot of room, but we make the most of it. There are a few stations for hair and a corner for washing. The floor is usually covered in hair because we’re always busy. We try to sweep up, but as soon as we do, another person walks in. It’s a good problem to have. We’ve been in Amar Colony for a long time now. We know the people who live in the flats nearby. They come in for a quick trim or a shave. We don't use any fancy language or try to be something we’re not. It’s just a neighborhood salon. We keep the door open when the weather is nice. Sometimes stray dogs wander near the entrance. We have a small TV that usually plays the news or some old movie. It’s a simple setup. We use the same tools we’ve had for years. It’s a bit cramped when it gets crowded, but everyone is patient. We just work through the day and head home when it’s dark. It’s an honest way to make a living in Delhi.
