About Indo Western Music Dance Arts Academy – Art & Craft in South Delhi
We run the Indo Western Music Dance Arts Academy over in Kalkaji, at G 73A. It is a lively place, mostly because there is almost always someone practicing an instrument or trying out a new dance routine. The neighborhood is full of families, so we get a lot of kids coming in after school. We have a few different rooms for classes, though they aren't very big. You can hear the tabla from one room and maybe a guitar or a violin from the other. It gets pretty loud, but that is the point of a music school. We don't have a polished corporate look at all. The walls have some old posters and maybe a bit of chipped paint here and there. We focus more on the teaching than on how the office looks. I spend a lot of my time scheduling teachers and making sure the instruments are in tune. It is a lot of work to keep an arts academy going in a busy place like Delhi. Kalkaji is a good spot for us because people here really care about music and dance. We don't promise to make everyone a superstar, we just want people to enjoy learning a new skill. It is a simple, local place where anyone can come and try their hand at something creative. We like the noise and the energy that the students bring in every single day.
