Our gallery is located at number 23 in Hauz Khas Village. It’s one of those narrow buildings that are common in this part of town. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow, so you have to be careful when you’re walking up. Inside, we have a lot of different art pieces hanging on the walls and sitting on the floor. I’ve been working here for a while now, and my main job is to keep everything clean and talk to whoever walks through the door. Some people are very serious about art and ask a lot of questions, while others just want to get out of the sun for a few minutes. I don't mind either way. The lighting can be a bit tricky because the windows are small, so we use a lot of lamps to make sure you can actually see the paintings. The village is always loud with music and people, but once you step inside, it gets much quieter. I have a small desk near the back where I keep the catalogs and my tea. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when the monsoon rains are really heavy, so we have to move the art around to keep it dry. It’s an old place with a lot of character, even if the walls are a bit uneven. I like the quiet days when I can just look at the paintings myself.
