About Gupta Tea Traders – Food & Beverages in South Delhi
Our place is Rz-433/13A in the Tuglakabad Extension. If you know the area, you know how the lanes can get quite crowded with people and carts. We are right in the middle of it. It’s a tall building and we use most of the ground space for storing the tea traders' stock. There are bags of tea piled almost to the ceiling sometimes. It smells very earthy inside, a mix of different leaves and the burlap sacks they come in. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s mostly just a working warehouse where we deal with bulk orders and local sellers. The light inside isn't great, so we have a few bright bulbs hanging from the wires. We drink a lot of tea ourselves while we work, usually standing up near the back door where there’s a bit of a breeze. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around on wooden pallets. The neighborhood is loud and full of life, and we are just another part of that noise. We’ve been here for a good while and we know the other traders on the street. It isn't a glamorous job but it’s what we do. We just keep the records in our books and make sure the bags are loaded onto the trucks before the evening rush makes the roads impossible to navigate with the larger delivery vehicles we use.
