Gati Dance Forum

You’ll find Gati Dance Forum over in Nizamuddin, at D 36. Nizamuddin is an old part of town with a lot of history and narrow lanes. Our place at D 36 is where we spend most of our time. It’s a space with floors that have seen a lot of movement. You can hear the music from the street sometimes. It’s not a huge studio with mirrors on every single wall, but it has a good feeling to it. The light comes in through the windows in the afternoon and makes the dust dance a bit. We don't have a fancy reception desk. Usually, someone just greets you while they’re in the middle of something else. We use a lot of fans because it gets sweaty when everyone is moving. It’s a bit of a climb to get up here, but it’s worth it. The neighborhood has its own rhythm. You can smell food from the nearby stalls and hear the calls from the street. Gati Dance Forum is just a place where we do our thing. We don't put on airs or try to look like a big professional company. We just like the movement and the space we have. D 36 has become a second home for a lot of us. It’s just a simple spot in a very busy part of the city. We don't need much more than the open floor and some good music.
