Dastkar

We are tucked away at 45-B in Shahpur Jat. If you have ever walked around this neighborhood, you know it is full of very narrow lanes and lots of small creative shops. Dastkar has been based here for a long time. Our space is usually overflowing with different fabrics, samples, and big stacks of paper. It is not a very tidy place to look at, but we generally know where everything is hidden. We spend a lot of our time talking to craftspeople from all over and looking at the things they have made. It is a bit of a hub for people who like making things by hand. The office is often quite loud with people coming in and out all day long. We do not have a big lobby or a person waiting at a front desk. Usually, someone will just look up from their work when you walk in and say hello. Shahpur Jat has changed a lot since we first moved in, but we have stayed in the same spot. We like the energy of this area. Sometimes the pipes leak or the lights flicker when it rains, but that is just the character of an old building. We do not bother with fancy furniture or expensive decorations. We would rather spend our time on the actual work. Our team is small and everyone does a bit of everything, from answering phones to moving heavy boxes.
