Sukhdev Vihar 23 is where we set up shop. It’s a decent sized space and we’ve put a lot of work into making it feel right. You won't find any glossy brochures or corporate speeches here. We are just a local business trying to make a go of it. Most mornings start with us sweeping the floors and making sure everything is in its place before the first person walks through the door. It’s a lot of physical work that people don’t always see. We handle the crates, move the furniture around, and make sure the shelves are stocked up. The lighting in here isn't perfect, but it creates a mood that we like. We’ve had the same crew for a while now, so we all know who is supposed to be doing what without having to talk about it much. Some days the weather is bad and nobody comes in, so we just sit around and talk about the news or what’s for dinner. Other nights it gets so crowded you can barely move, and we’re all sweating and trying to keep up. It’s an honest way to make a living and we don't try to be something we’re not. We like the people who come in here because they’re mostly locals who just want a quiet spot to spend an hour or two. We just keep the lights on and wait for the next person.
