C D B Cafe

Being in Greater Kailash II at Sehgal Market 2, number 18, means we see a lot of the same faces every day. This market has a specific vibe, not as loud as some others but always moving. We opened C D B Cafe because we wanted a place where we could just work and serve some simple food. It’s not a large space, so you might have to wait for a stool if it’s a Saturday afternoon. We do a lot of cleaning because the dust from the road gets in if the door stays open too long. The kitchen is tucked in the back and it stays pretty busy with the sandwich press and the kettle going. We don't have a big menu because we’d rather do a few things well than a lot of things badly. Most people who live in GKII know us by now, and we know their usual orders without them having to say much. It’s nice having that connection with the neighborhood. Sometimes it gets a bit stressful when a big group walks in and we’re short-staffed, but we manage to get through it. The music we play is just whatever we’re feeling that day, nothing fancy. We’re just here at shop 18, trying to keep things going and making sure the coffee is hot. It’s a decent way to spend the day in the market. We keep the napkins stocked and the floor swept.
