Barkati Craft India

We operate out of a small place in Jogabai Extension, which is over in the Jamia Nagar area near Okhla. Barkati Craft India started out as a small family thing and we have tried to keep it that way even as we have gotten busier. We make a lot of handcrafted items, mostly the kind of things people use to decorate their homes or give as gifts. It is not like a big factory with an assembly line. Most of the things we sell are done by hand or with very simple tools. The space at F-12/8 is a bit cramped because we have so many samples and pieces of wood or metal lying around everywhere. The streets around Jamia Nagar are always full of people and rickshaws, so there is a lot of energy right outside our door. We try to pay attention to the small details, even if that means it takes us a little longer to finish a specific piece. Sometimes a customer asks for something we have never tried making before, and we just have to figure it out as we go along. It is a learning process every single day for us. We do not have a fancy showroom for people to browse in. Most folks just come straight to the workshop to see what we are currently working on. It is an honest way to earn a living.
