Barista Coffee Company

The Barista Coffee Company shop here is on the second floor of the ODS building in Lajpat Nagar IV. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it’s a good spot to look out at the market. We spend the whole day making coffee and cleaning up the milk frothers. It’s always smelling like roasted beans in here, which is nice. We get a lot of students and people who work in the nearby shops coming in for a quick break. The furniture is a bit worn out from all the people sitting on it, but it’s still comfortable. Sometimes the music we play is a bit too loud, but nobody seems to mind. Our location is technically listed as Haryana in some files, but we are right here in New Delhi. The market outside is always full of people shouting and cars honking, but inside it’s a bit more relaxed. We have a small staff of three people on each shift. We don't have any fancy uniforms, just black aprons that get stained with espresso pretty quickly. The sink in the back leaks a little bit, so we have to keep a bucket under it. It’s a busy life, especially on the weekends when the shoppers come in. We just keep the coffee flowing and try to remember what the regulars like to drink. It’s a simple job but it keeps us busy.
