Bagels Cafe

We are located at Hauz Khas Village 50, which is kind of a weird spot if you aren't looking for it. The village has changed a lot since we first came here, but we’re still just doing our thing. Bagels aren’t the most common thing you find in Delhi, but we liked making them so we just kept going. The shop is small and the walls have been painted a few times now. It’s got that old village feel where the lanes are narrow and you can hear the neighbors talking. We start early in the morning because the dough takes time to sit and rise properly. If you come by too early, you’ll just see us through the window covered in flour. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with the bags of flour and the ovens get the whole place smelling like toasted bread. We don't have a huge staff, just a few of us who know how the machines work. Sometimes the espresso machine acts up and we have to tinker with it for an hour. People come in to sit with their laptops or just to stare out at the trees for a while. It’s a quiet corner compared to the main road. We don't do much advertising; people just seem to find us by walking past or hearing from a friend. It’s a simple life at number 50, just making bread and serving coffee. The door creaks when you walk in, but we’ve never gotten around to fixing it.
