Ambika Pillai Designer Salon

Chattarpur is a busy part of Delhi, and we’ve been tucked away here in Dhan Mill Compound for a while now. If you know 100 Feet Road, you know how the traffic gets, but once you step into 287/288, it’s a bit different. We spend most of our mornings just setting up the stations, making sure the brushes are clean and the towels are folded. It’s a designer salon, sure, but we’re mostly just a group of people who like working with hair and faces. Some days are loud with the sound of blow-dryers, and other days it’s just the hum of the AC and low chatter. We see all sorts of people walking through the doors, some looking for a big change and others just needing a trim because their fringe got too long. The light comes in through the windows in a certain way in the afternoon, hitting the mirrors. We don’t have any fancy speeches about what we do. We just open up, take our appointments, and try to get the eyeliner right the first time. Sometimes we run behind schedule because a client wants to talk or a hair color takes longer to develop than we thought. That’s just how it goes in a place like this. We’ve got our regulars who have been coming for years, and we know exactly how they like their tea while they wait. It is just a job we enjoy doing here in this corner of Delhi.
