Abc Masala

Abc Masala is located at No.53 in Mehrauli. We are right near the bus stand, which means there is a lot of movement all the time. People getting off the buses often stop by to pick up a few things before they walk home. The shop is small and the walls are a bit stained from years of work. We have a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling that flickers sometimes. We don't have a big sign outside, just the name painted on the shutter. We deal with all the basic spices people use in their cooking every day. Most of the time, we are busy weighing out portions on our old scale. It’s not digital, so you have to move the little weights around until it balances. It takes a bit longer, but it works fine. The noise from the buses can be quite loud, especially during the morning rush. We get a lot of dust from the road, so we are constantly wiping down the counter. It’s a family-run thing, so you’ll usually see one of us sitting on the stool near the entrance. We don't have a big warehouse; everything we have is right here in the shop. We keep the whole spices in large bins and grind them in small batches so they don't sit around for too long. We close up when the last regular bus leaves for the night.
