Gloster Jute L T D

Our place is over at 4 3 T S K Bose Rd in the Nandanpur Natunpally part of Budge Budge. It is a busy area in 24 Parganas S, and Gloster Jute L T D has been part of the landscape here for quite a while. The air usually smells like raw jute and the river is not too far away if you walk down the road. Our building is pretty plain, just a practical spot where people show up every morning to get through the day’s tasks. We deal with the fibers and the heavy bags, so things get a bit dusty and loud. The ceiling fans hum constantly to try and keep us cool in the Calcutta humidity. Most of the people working here are locals who walk or take a rickshaw to the gate. It is definitely not a fancy corporate setup with glass walls or shiny floors. We have old wooden desks and piles of paperwork that always seem to be growing. When the sun starts to go down over Budge Budge, we lock up the main gates and head home like everyone else on this street. It is hard, repetitive work, but it is what we know. People stop by to ask about orders, and we just talk to them across the desk without any fuss. There is no big speech about what we do here, just the sound of the machines and the tea guy coming around at four. It is just a local spot in a corner of Calcutta.
