We’re based in Hathopur, which is part of the Harsar panchayat in Siwan. You can find us over at Deepak’s place. We’re just a small group of local farmers who decided to team up. Siwan is a place where people know how to work, and we’re no different. We started Daraundha Farmer Producer Company because it felt like the right time to get organized. Most of us have been doing this since we were kids, following our parents into the fields. We don't have any fancy marketing or a big corporate plan. Our plan is basically to plant, grow, and sell, and try to make a little bit of profit for our families. It’s not always easy, and sometimes things don’t go according to plan. The rain might come late, or the market prices might drop overnight. We just deal with it as it comes. We’re practical people. We spend our days out in the sun and our evenings talking about what we need for the next season. It’s a community effort here in Hathopur. We help each other out with equipment or advice whenever it’s needed. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just trying to make life a bit more stable for the farmers in our area. It’s hard, honest work, and we’re proud to be doing it right here where we grew up.
