Jwogalu Abadari Affat Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are a group of folks working out of Sonai Bhergaon in Udalguri. The office is right at Laodum Brahma’s place. It’s a quiet village in the Darrang district of Assam. Most of us here have been farming our whole lives, so we thought starting Jwogalu Abadari Affat Farmer Producer Company Limited was the right thing to do to stay organized. Life here follows the seasons. When it rains, we are out in the mud, and when it’s dry, we worry about the water. It isn't a fancy setup. We just have a few desks and some files in the corner of the house. We spend a lot of time talking about seeds and how much we can sell things for in the local markets. Sometimes the roads get bad, especially during the monsoon, so getting things moved around takes longer than we'd like. Our neighbors and family members are all involved one way or another. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us trying to make sure the work we do in the fields actually pays off at the end of the year. People come by the village to talk to Laodum or the rest of us about the crops. We try to keep things simple and honest. It is a lot of hard work under the sun, but that’s just how things are in this part of Assam. We are just local people working together to survive.
