Kishan Marble

Kishan Marble is on Sevak Road, right by Hotel Sachitra. If you know that part of the road, you know how much traffic there is every day. We have slabs of marble leaning against the walls all over the place. It’s heavy work moving that stone around. The yard is usually covered in white dust from when we have to cut or trim pieces. People stop their cars on the side of the road to come in and look at what we have. It’s not a polished gallery or anything fancy. It’s just a yard with a lot of stone. The sun beats down on the marble and it gets really hot to the touch in the summer. We spend a lot of time washing the dust off so people can see the patterns clearly. Hotel Sachitra is a good landmark because everyone knows it. Sevak Road is a main artery, so it’s never really quiet. We have been here for a long time, watching the buildings go up around us. We don't have a big sales team, just a couple of us who know how to handle the slabs without breaking them. It’s a tough business but we like being outdoors and working with our hands. You get used to the weight and the grit after a few weeks. It’s just us here at the shop, day after day, moving heavy stone for people’s houses and construction projects.
