Vasavadatta Cements

Out in Sedam Rural, near Gulbarga, things move a bit slower than in the city. Our place is at 2500 Sedam Rural. It’s a huge area, mostly taken up by the cement works and the storage yards. We’ve got a lot of people from the local villages working here every single day. The air is thick with the smell of the kiln sometimes, especially when the wind isn't blowing much. We’ve been a part of this community for a long time and we know most of the families around here. The office is pretty basic, just some stone floors and ceiling fans that hum all day. We spend the day managing the production lines and the bagging area. It’s a lot of logistics, getting the cement out of Gulbarga and to the sites where it’s needed for new buildings. The sun is hot out here, so we do most of the heavy lifting early in the morning. We aren't big on meetings or fancy talk. We just check the quality of the batches and keep the machines running. Sometimes the power goes out and we all just sit outside in the shade and wait for it to come back. It’s just how it is in a rural area like this. We know the truck drivers by name and they know us. Most of them have been coming here for a decade. It’s a steady life. We don't have any big posters. We just make the cement.
