Vasa Vadatta Cement

Over at 26-35-34 near the Postmaster in Gulbarga, you’ll find Vasa Vadatta Cement. It’s a busy spot, especially with the mail being sorted nearby and people coming and going all day long. We have been sitting in this same spot for years, watching the town change around us. The building isn't much to look at, but it holds everything we need to keep the business running. Most days start with a cup of tea from the stall down the street while we wait for the first delivery. Gulbarga can get incredibly dry, so there is always a layer of fine grey dust on the windows and the chairs, no matter how many times we wipe them down. We handle a lot of different bags and it’s heavy work, but we are used to it by now. The neighbors know us well and sometimes they just stop by to chat about the local news or the rain. We don't really do much advertising because most folks just see our sign and walk in when they need something for their house. It is a straightforward way to make a living and we don’t try to make it more complicated than it is. Just stacking bags and helping people load their carts or trucks. It feels good to see the houses in the area that were built using what we sold them. Sometimes the trucks are blocked by the mail vans, but we just work around it and keep things moving. It is a long day but we like the routine.
