Neeli Kranti Aqua Farmers Producercompany Limited is based out of Village Badbar in Sangrur. We are basically a group of farmers who decided to get together and handle the aqua farming side of things ourselves. Sukhpal Singh helps manage the operations from Patti Layalpuri. It isn't always easy working with water and fish in this part of Punjab, but we make it work. Most days are spent checking on the tanks and making sure the water quality is okay. We started this because we wanted to have more control over how our produce gets handled. The address is easy to find if you know where the village is. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that, just a place to get the work done. Barnala is close by, so we move back and forth quite a bit. It is a lot of physical labor and early mornings. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate, which is just part of the job. We aren't trying to do anything too complicated, just trying to run a decent farming business. If you are around Sangrur, you might see some of us working. It is a local effort through and through. We keep things pretty simple around here and focus on the daily tasks. There is always something to fix or a pond that needs attention. We just keep moving forward one day at a time. It’s hard work but it feels right to be doing this together as a group.
