Laxmi Coffee Estate

Laxmi Coffee Estate is based out of No: 12 in Muraripalayam, which is part of the Valapadi Talk area. If you come by when we are processing, the whole area smells like coffee beans. It is a very specific scent that you get used to after a while. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the harvest and making sure the beans are dried and sorted properly. The weather in Valapadi can be quite tough, either too much rain or a lot of heat, and that affects everything we do here. Our place is not a fancy cafe; it is more of a working estate where the real labor happens. We have bags of coffee stacked up in the warehouse, and there is always someone moving them around or checking the quality. It is hard work and the days start very early, usually before the sun is even fully up. We deal with a lot of local workers and transporters who take the beans to the next stop. Most of our time is spent outdoors or in the sheds, so we don't spend much time in a clean office. We have been doing this for years, and it is just the way of life for us in Muraripalayam. We know the land and we know the trees. It is just about getting the coffee ready and out the door.
