About Bagaya Lakshmi Seeds – Agriculture & Farming in Salem
Our shop is located at 4/255/2 in the Syndicate Bank Colony. It is a quiet area compared to the main market, which we actually prefer. We deal mainly with seeds for farmers and some home gardeners who know their way around a plot of land. The space is filled with bags of all sizes, and there is always that earthy smell of dried seeds and grain. We spend a lot of time talking to folks about the soil and the weather, because those things matter more than anything else in this business. We aren't scientists, but we have learned a lot over the years just by listening to the people who grow things. Sometimes the stock doesn't arrive on time because of transport issues, and we have to explain that to a farmer who is ready to plant. Those are the tough days. We don't have any fancy displays or neon signs. It’s just a practical shop where you get what you need for your fields. My brother and I run the place, and we usually have one or two helpers for the heavy lifting. We don't bother with big advertisements because word of mouth works well enough for us. If someone has a good harvest, they tell their neighbor, and that is how we stay in business. It’s honest work and we like being part of the local farming cycle.
