Kollimalai Collective Farming Farmerproducer Company Limited

Up in the hills at Kollimalai, the air is a bit different. We are based in Ariyur Solakkadu, at 7/54. It is a beautiful place but the work is hard. Farming on the hills is not like farming on the plains. We are a collective farming farmer producer company, which means we all work together. Our office is just a small building in the village. It is where we meet to decide what to plant and how to sell it. We are not a big corporation with lots of money. We are just local people who know these hills well. The road up here has a lot of bends, so getting supplies in and out takes some time. We spend our mornings checking on the different plots and our afternoons doing the paperwork. It is a quiet life for the most part, except when we are loading up the trucks. We do not use any fancy technology, just what we know works for our soil. We talk about the weather constantly because it changes so fast up here. It is a community thing. If one person has a problem, we all hear about it at the office. We just try to keep the collective going so everyone gets a fair share. It is honest, difficult work, but it is our life here in Solakkadu. We do not need much more than that. Sometimes the mist comes down so low you can't see the road.
