Saharsa Women Jeevika Producer Company Limited

Our group, the Saharsa Women Jeevika Producer Company, is based at the Jeevika DPCU in Saharsa. We operate from Kaushiki Raghunan-Dan Niwas in Hatiya Gachi, which is in Ward 32. This is a place where local women come together to work on different agricultural and production projects. It’s a very lively place, always humming with conversation and the sound of work being done. We aren't a corporate setup with glass walls. We are in a real house, in a real neighborhood, dealing with the daily grind of producing goods. Most of us are from the surrounding areas and we’ve seen how hard it can be for women to get a fair start in business. So, we do it together. We handle all sorts of produce and help each other with the technical parts of the job. It’s not always perfect—sometimes we run out of space or the power goes out—but we keep moving forward. We don't have any fancy mission statements. We just want to work, earn a living, and make sure our families are okay. If you come by Hatiya Gachi, you’ll see us busy with something or other. It’s practical, honest work done by people who care about their community in Saharsa. We use what we have and we make it work. That is our story, plain and simple. We started with very little and now we are managing to grow something real for ourselves.
