Radhanagar Udhwa Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our company is called Radhanagar Udhwa Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are located at Ranjit Kumar Singh’s house in Begamganj village. This is in the Radhanagar police station area, which falls under the Udhwa block. It is a bit of a trek to get here if you aren't from this part of the country. We don't have a regular office building. It is just Ranjit’s place where we keep our stuff and meet up. Most of the people involved are farmers from the nearby fields. We started this because we wanted to have a better say in how we sell our crops. It is not an easy job and we spend a lot of time arguing about the best way to do things. We don't have a lot of money for fancy things, so we just use what we’ve got. Sometimes we meet outside when the weather is nice. We deal with the usual crops grown in this part of Udhwa. We aren't experts at running a company, we are just learning as we go. It’s been a bit of a struggle with all the rules and regulations, but we are managing. There are many families in Begamganj that depend on this working out. We don't make big claims about what we can do. We just try to get a fair price for our hard work. It is a very local effort and we are proud of that.
