Mahmood Manzil is the name of our building, and you can find us at 12/1165. It is right in the heart of Shivpuri Mandi. If you’ve ever walked through the mandi, you know it is loud and full of energy from dawn until dusk. Mahmood Hasan & Sons is a family name we carry with pride, though we don’t go around shouting about it. The building itself has been around for years. We spend our days inside these rooms, surrounded by the sounds of the market outside. Sometimes the smell of spices and fresh produce drifts in through the windows. Our space is lived-in, with stacks of papers and old ledgers on the shelves. We don’t have fancy carpets or modern glass walls. It is just a solid place to do business. We know most of the other traders around Shivpuri Mandi by their first names. We share news and sometimes help each other out when things get busy. It is a community here, really. Every morning we unlock the heavy doors and start the day. There is always something to be done, whether it is talking to people who drop by or finishing up the records from the day before. It is a simple life, but it keeps us busy and we like the rhythm of it all. We have been here for a long time and plan to stay for much longer.
