Our place is located on Shivaji Marg, sitting right across from where the Rakesh Cinema is. That cinema is a landmark that everyone in the neighborhood uses for directions. We have been running the paint business out of this building for a long time. It is an older building that has seen better days, but it works perfectly fine for what we need. You can usually catch a faint smell of paint and thinners when you first walk through the door. We have the front counter area where customers come in, and then all the heavy storage is kept in the back rooms. The wooden shelves are packed with different cans, brushes, and mixing tools. Shivaji Marg is a very noisy street, especially in the evenings when the movies at Rakesh Cinema are letting out and the crowds spill onto the road. We see a lot of people passing by our windows every day. Our office isn't one of those fancy places with plush carpets or glass partitions. We have simple metal desks and a lot of paper ledgers. Most of our day is spent chatting with local contractors or homeowners who are looking for a very specific shade of green or blue. We try to keep our inventory sorted out, but it’s a never-ending job as new stock arrives daily. The staff here knows almost everyone on the block. We have watched the neighborhood change while we stayed in this same spot. It’s a practical, down-to-earth setup for a paint company. We just open up and do our work until evening.
