Walia chiken

This shop is tucked away at number 61 in the main market of Sas Nagar. If you cannot find it, just look for Yunus the hair dresser, we are right nearby. I started Walia chiken because there was not a good spot around here for fresh meat back then. Now Mohali has grown so much. We even send orders over to Chandigarh because people there seem to like how we do things. It is a small place, mostly just a counter and the fridge. It gets really busy in the evenings, especially when people are coming home from work and want something for dinner. The market is always loud with scooters and people talking, so you have to shout a bit to be heard. I spend most of my day dealing with suppliers and making sure the birds are good. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour and we have to mess with the generator, which is a big pain. My brother helps me out when things get crazy. We do not have fancy chairs or anything, it is more of a place where you get your food and head home. The floor gets a bit messy by the end of the night, but we scrub it down every single time before closing. It is hard work, standing on your feet all day near the heat, but it is what we do. We have been in this spot for years and the neighbors are all okay. You just get used to the noise.
